Talk us through the process of creating your work
In this piece, I am conveying how a virtual world is made up of many pieces of information and how these can form recreations of the real world.
I am displaying how every part of an environment can be broken down into codes and can become digital. This has been represented by the thin strips of colour. These strips of colour have then been placed behind a screen. This has been represented by firstly the tracing paper which allows the information to come together and become a larger piece of information and also by the coloured Perspex which allows the information to be viewed in a new way, and cropping which bits of information are being displayed, as described by the fragments of information which have not been included behind anything, and are left connected to what has been formed together to create a new virtual world and the information of the real world which those parts of information have been derived from.

The process of making this piece began by collecting the unused parts of trimmed paper, the strips which were not needed. These strips however, contain information which is still vital for each piece of paper that is now cropped. As I gathered the strips together, I was able to form my own glitched image which allowed each strip to become vital to one another as they were combining the information they each contained with more information. I decided to place tracing paper over the strips so that the flatness of the paper allows the strips to appear two-dimensional and so to resemble a screen.
As well as collecting the others of cropped images, I have also collected the others of sheets of Perspex, these others were no longer needed as the rest of the sheet was being used for a piece of work. This Perspex then became the final layer of my piece. The information within these sections then became the focus points as they created a sense of depth as you could look through them and discover what was below. However, at the sides of the work, there are the others of the cut paper which are uncovered and so become one with the wall they are hung against and so become one with the real world. This suggests a joining of the real world and virtuality.
